Spradlin Update

Hi to All,

Well, we are a very busy family.  This week we have something every night.  Scream!

Anyway, Hailey is very appreciative of all who helped with answers for the Walker County Fair Association (WCFA) Princess Contest.  She didn’t win but she did an amazing job.  We could not have asked for a better result from her.  Over the past three years we have seen her grow in her abilities to be in front of people.  This year, she had amazing stage presence, looked amazing as always and answered her two questions very well.  She did cry when it was over and said all she wanted to do was place.  How can a mom explain but just surround her by love?  The next day she was over it and ready to move on.  I told her when I was her age there was NO way I would have ever agreed to get up in front of people and that we were SO proud of her.  Today we turn in her craft project (made of all recyclable material) which will be judged on creativity, imagination and presentation. Hailey dropped guitar but I think it was because it was too slow.  She really wants to play the drums but I’m not ready for that nor do we have the room for it.  This week she will be entering the second stage of testing for the Gifted and Talented Program and if she passes she will be put in the program next year. (Results will come by mail at the end of the school year.)  This is the first time she has been passed to second stage. April 11-13th we will be at her first dance competition with the dance company she is in from her dance school.  Tuesday night we will get a taste of what they will be competing with when they perform at the fair.  By the end of the year I believe she will have earned 12 “Try Its” badges in Brownies.  She is a very busy girl.

Faith actually sat on the bunny’s lap this year which is a huge step since she wouldn’t have anything to do with Santa or the Bunny.  Here she is posing at the Easter Egg Hunt this year.  Yes, that is “her pose” which she learned from her sister but when asked to pose will do it on command.  She is a ball of energy.  I think she is smart and knows it.  She loves to play outside and often asked to go outside even if we don’t come (in the backyard).  She loves to pick “flowers” (weeds) and give them to use as gifts. She has successfully learned her colors and shapes and is for the most part completely potty trained.  We are looking forward to her transfer to the pre-school were Hailey went to further her development.  At the current time she is a mama’s girl which is tiring.  As with Hailey, Faith will start dance classes in September (age 3).  The dance school owner is excited to have her.  Everyone knows that Faith is energetic, loves to dance and pose so they are eager to see what she can do.  It will be interesting to see if she will follow the commands of the dance teacher but from what her school teacher tells us she is doing excellent for the most part obeying.

Jacob continues with grad school this summer and well….I’m just trying to be mom and keep up with everyone’s activities for now.  Even the book reading has slowed down.

 Have a good week!
Kim
